Recently I noticed a similar poll about Adobe Photoshop somewhere on the Internet and the results were surprising (I'll tell you at the end of this poll). I wonder what you people think about this. Is $599 for AI too much compared to other applications? Is upgrade at $199 too much or it could be higher if we get cheaper license?

$300 to $500 is pretty reasonable considering how many people use it today.

$300 to $500 is fine. BUT!!! They need to release new versions without sh*t loads of flaws like CS3 had when it came out. A good number of those flaws Adobe has ignored and just let the users work with or around it. They also need to start putting in features that people have been asking for since AI8 came out. Each time they get ready to release a new version they ask what users want, and never do anything about them.

I think $599 is way too high. And I agree with PS that Adobe rarely implements features people want - they are more or less calculating and comparing features to other applications in CS Suite and then decide how to implement features that will not harm sale of other products.

I think the Adobe products are too high and take too long to open and load. The applications need to run faster and be concerned more on function then eye candy (for the GUI). I do use Adobe CS4 and do prefer to use it over Corel Draw, but think they could make some changes.

We can conclude that some 85% of you think AI is too expensive. I agree, it could be cheaper few hundred bucks, especially in hard times like these. As I mentioned in my opening post, there was a poll by Epic Edits Weblog, which asked users if Photoshop was too expensive. The vast majority said yes, it is expensive. This poll was based on previous poll that indicated that 60% of Photoshop users were using illegal copies. It also indicated that if Adobe reduced the price, there were more people willing to buy legal copies.
